Pro’s Corner
With July quickly approaching so are the Men’s and Women’s Club Championships. The Men’s Club Championship will be held on Saturday and Sunday July 11th and 12th. The Women’s Club Championship will be held on Sunday, July 26th. One of the largest misnomers with these events is that many of us think that these are tournaments for only the “elite” players. Both of these events are flighted and you have just as good of a chance of winning something as the best players in the field. This years Men’s Championship will be flighted at the completion of 36 holes for all flights except the Championship Flight. The Championship Flight will be determined at the end of round one with the low 16 and ties and those participants who declared Championship Flight playing 27 holes from the Black Tees on Day two. You may request your own foursome for round one play. Round two pairings will be determined by score. The low 10 scores and ties from the Championship Flight, Senior Flight, and Super Senior Flight will qualify for the Sole Survivor which will be held on August 2nd. We will also have a group from the Open Division but those participants cannot be chosen until we determine how many flights we will have.
The Women’s event is a one day event which is also flighted. You may request your own group for this event. The low 10 scores and ties excluding the club champion qualify for the Ladies Sole Survivor which will be held on August 2nd .

3rd Annual Indianola Golf Classic for the American Cancer Society
This charity event will be held on Friday July 17th with a 12 noon shotgun start. It is a 4 person best shot so get your team together for this very worthwhile event. The cost is only $75 per person and includes golf and cart fee, prizes, tee gift and a dinner and reception following the tournament. Club Sponsored Tournaments in July
Upcoming club tournaments include the Firecracker Open, a 4 person best shot for club members, on July 4th the Men’s Club Championship ( Saturday and Sunday July 11th – 12th) and the Women’s Club Championship Sunday July 26th). The club championships have both open and senior divisions and are flighted so players of all abilities can compete. Sign-up in the clubhouse and join in the fun.

Couples 2-Balls
There is one couples 2-ball scheduled for July in addition to the 2-Ball before the Patio Party on July 18th. It is on Friday July 24th at 6 p.m. Come on out and join the fun. The 2-Ball originally scheduled for Friday June 26th has been rescheduled for August 22nd. Reminder: the nine not being used by 2-Ball is open for others to play.

Club to Host IGA State Am Qualifier
We have been selected to host the Central Iowa Qualifier for the 107h Iowa Amateur by the Iowa Golf Association. This event will have morning tee times on Monday July 20th. Tee times will be based on the number of qualifiers.

RAGBRAI Day
Tuesday July 21st is RAGBRAI Day as Indianola will host over 10,000 cyclists that evening. As many members will be involved with the hosting of this event there will be no Tuesday Night League this Tuesday. We will also be open to guest play from cyclists and their support teams. Please make our guests feel welcome.

RAGBRAI HELP!
Indianola RAGBRAI is in need of golf carts for our volunteers to drive on July 21st . The volunteers will need the carts for the entire day and, therefore should have gas carts. Each cart will be registered with the police department and each driver mush furnish proof of liability and a valid driver’s license.
If you are willing to loan your cart for that day please notify Dick Mathews @ 314 – 1010

Golf “Outing” Saturday July 25th
There will be a large number of “guests” in town for a family reunion teeing off on Saturday July 25th from approximately 12:30pm – 2:30 pm. They will be playing a best-shot format so they should play at normal pace. Please plan you start time this Saturday to avoid any inconvenience.

Additional Yardage Markings
Hopefully all of you have noticed the additional yardage markings on the course. With the recent removal of the white posts some of you expressed some interest in having a more visual marking from a distance rather than the sprinkler heads or circular disks. Within the last week all cart paths now have a 100 Yard Marking (Red) 150 Yard Marking (White) 200 Yard Marking (Blue) and 250 Yard Marking (Gold). Thanks to Mike Lathrop, Greens Committee Chairman, for taking time out of his busy schedule to do this.

From the Men’s Association
Hello again from the Men’s Association. Rick Demory had a hole-in-one on #9 in June. As part of his dues in the Men’s Association, hole-in-one insurance was built in. He received $100.00 for his accomplishment. Congrats Rick. For anyone interested in joining Men’s Association, contact Rob Curtiss or Ron Bright. Everyone is welcome whether you play league or not.

New Membership Special Successful
Since last fall we have added 35 new memberships on our new membership special. Thirteen of them are under 35 so we have both successfully attracted new members and approximately doubled the number of “younger” members. If you see a new face at the club, please introduce yourself and ask them to join you if you have room in your group that day. Thanks for your help in welcoming these new members to the club.

Membership Changes
We have received a resignation from Carroll Isley. Welcome new golf members Scott & Monica Weinman, Scott & Deanna Gray, Brad & Linda Jermiland, John & Terry Wolf, and Dennis & Rona Amundson. We now have 325 golf and 19 social memberships. We had 336 golf and 12 social memberships at this time last year.

Reminders:
Singles and Twosomes - Please try to form a threesome or foursome during busy times. This will allow more groups on the golf course and you will not have to wait behind a larger group or inconvenience the larger group by playing through. If you see another single or twosome by the clubhouse, ask them to join you, they may be looking for someone to play with. Thanks.

Lunch at the Club - Don't forget that lunch is available at the club from 11AM-2PM Thursdays and Fridays, and from 11AM-3PM on Saturdays. Feel free to bring your friends or co-workers. It is one of the best deals in town.

CLUBHOUSE HOURS: The clubhouse will be open 8:00 am - dark on weekdays and 7:00 am - dark on weekends.

FOOD SERVICE: Cold sandwiches, "Pub Burgers", and hot dogs will be available in the lower bar area. The grill will be open Thursday & Friday from 11am-2 pm and Saturday from 11 am-3 pm for lunch. During Men's League food will be available. Dinner will be available after Women's League and on Thursdays nights.
