Annual Meeting Report

The Indianola Country Club Annual Business Meeting was held on Sunday January 20^th at 1 pm in the clubhouse.  The 2007 financial report was presented along with the 2008 budget and reports from the various board committees.  The financial report and budget are posted at the club and extra copies are available from Jason if you are interested.  Since many of you were unable to make the meeting, a summary of the meeting "highlights" is presented here:

2007 Financial Report: The club had a very good year with a net income of just over $73,000 which was $57,000 over the projected budget.  Almost $30,000 of this increase was due to the capital improvement fee, which was not included in the 2007 budget.  Dues income was about $10,000 better than projected and food sales, proshop sales and rental carts also did better than projected.  The club ended the year in very good financial shape with good balances in our various accounts.  The savings accounts earmarked for clubhouse improvements and new course equipment have about $20,000 each, the capital improvement account has almost $29,000 earmarked for the new watering system, and we ended the year with just over $60,000 in our regular operating accounts. 

2008 Budget: The 2008 budget assumes no dues or cart shed increase and that the membership will be the same as last year.  We currently have 6 fewer members than at this time last year so we are assuming we will add at least 15 new members this spring. With these assumptions, the budget predicts a net income for the year of $30,000. (This includes $37,500 in capital improvement fees).  When the non cash item of depreciation is added and the capital improvement fees, principle payments and funding for our savings accounts are subtracted, the budget projects a cash flow of just $15,000 for the year.  The board seriously considered a dues increase but decided not to increase dues for several reasons.  The strong member support of the club this year resulted in a very good year and the clubs good financial position.  The board is confident strong member support will again result in a good year.  Also, with the total $15/month increase last year and the current uncertainty in the economy, the board felt that members could best promote the club if the dues were kept at the current level.

Lunch at the Club

Don't forget that lunch is available at the club Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11AM-2PM.  Feel free to bring your friends or co-workers.  It is one of the best deals in town.

A Message from the President

            First I would like to thank the membership for having enough confidence in me to elect me for another term as President.  As a 25 year plus club member I would like to reflect on what it means to be a member of the Indianola Country Club.  It means much more than purchasing a yearly pass at a municipal or daily fee course.  There are the obvious differences of ICC being members only, not having to get a tee time, and being able to use your own cart.  One thing that club members sometimes forget is that all of us are actually co-owners of the club.  As co-owners it is our responsibility to continue to make the club a great place to play golf and socialize with our friends.  That is why many of us volunteer to serve on the board or as club officers.  When you participate in club functions, bring guests out to play golf, or eat lunch at the club you are supporting your club.  Member support over the past few years has resulted in the club having some very good years.  Let’s make the coming year even better.

New Members Needed        

As mentioned above, the club needs to recruit at least 15 new members this spring.  As always you the current members are our best recruiters.  We have 2 current new member specials to help you with recruiting.  One special is new members will get 20% off the initiation fee (pay only $400) and only pay social dues of $20/month until April 2008.  The sponsoring member receives $50 in club bucks.  The Board also approved giving additional initiation fee discounts for several new members joining together.  They are 2 memberships - 40% off or $300 each, 3 memberships - 50% off or $250 each, 4 memberships - 60% off or $200 each. The sponsoring member will receive $50 in club bucks for each group they recruit. All new members must remain members and pay dues for at least 1 year. Jason has prospective member information.  You can pick up the information at the club or have him send it out.  Thanks for your help.

Membership Changes

We have received resignations from Scott and Dena Sloan and Larry & Tammi Perry.  Welcome new members Ryan & Angela Sievers, Nick & Laci Sinn and Jane Wadle (social).  We now have 324 golf and 14 social memberships.
