The members of the men’s association would like to invite the men at I.C.C. to join the association and clarify what the men’s association is all about.

As the president of the men’s association I have become aware that there may be confusion regarding the benefits of men’s association membership.  The cost of membership is an affordable $25.00 per year.  The association funds are utilized for improvements and projects at the country club.  The association also assists Jason with Tuesday men’s golf league. Your membership also includes hole-in-one insurance, if a member makes a witnessed hole-in-one, the association will provide $100.00 to assist with the bar tab. Members get pretty thirsty when someone makes a hole-in-one! The men’s association also sponsors the flag tournament and provides a steak dinner and beer on the last night of men’s league at no cost to members.

It is the goal of the association to suggest and implement projects that enhance the golf course, clubhouse, and club grounds.  Members of men’s association have direct input on prioritization, development and implementation of projects.

The men’s association has been involved in the following projects recent years:

  • contributed to the purchase of the patio tables and chairs that sit outside of the club house
  • contributed to the purchase of the big-screen television on the south wall of the clubhouse
  • contributed to the purchase of the popcorn machine in the clubhouse

Current projects that are being planned by members of the men’s association include:

  • improving the appearance of the turn arounds on several holes on the course
  • the purchase of additional tables for the down-stairs patio
  • hosting the year end men’s association handicapped club championship and steak fry
  • organizing a skills challenge competition to help open the new driving range

Welcome League Participants

In an attempt to make your league season more enjoyable I’m asking all participants to do a couple of things this year.  As you can see we have made an attempt to collect everyone’s e mail address over the past few seasons.  This will make it easier to communicate amongst each other.  Periodically we have situations which come up unexpectedly and it is a lot easier and quicker to communicate with everyone with a mass e mail.  Also, it will make it easier for teams to communicate from one week to another.

Because we cannot all be at the course at the same time from week to week I would like teams to communicate either by e mail or phone.  One of the complaints I hear in regards to league is that some teams sit around for hours waiting for the team they are scheduled to play.  I   highly recommend calling or e mailing the team you are playing a week prior to playing them.  If you are playing a team that is unable to make it until 5:45 you will know not to show up and expect to play your match at 4:00.

If you are not able to make it for league play it is your responsibility to find a substitute.  Everything you need in order to communicate or call a sub has been provided to you on our web site.  It is OK to make up your match and or play the match before the scheduled Tuesday date.  If you do choose to make it up we ask that you make it up within a week of the scheduled date.  If a team is unable to find a sub or schedule a makeup they will be forced to forfeit.  By forfeiting you will obviously be accumulating a loss but you also lose 25 valuable points.

For those of you who are new to our Club and or have never had an established handicap we have a formula to use in the meantime.  It is very important that you get activated in the GHIN computer as soon as possible.  The fee for the golf season is $20.  You will need a number of 18 hole rounds entered in order to establish a handicap.  The formula we use for those without a handicap is as follows:
Your Score – Course Rating for that Nine x 80%

For instance if you shot 44 and the course rating for that nine was 34.9 and you multiplied it by 80% your handicap for that nine would be 7.28 which would be rounded down to 7.

44 – 34.9 = 9.10 x 80% = 7.28

Each week you will be playing for a team total of $4.00.   On the first night of league you will be paying $25 for the prize fund which is dispersed at the end of league season in Club Bucks.  Each team earns $4.00 per win.  We will be paying out the top 5 teams at the end of the season.  The payout per team will be as follows:

 1st Place               $100                     2nd Place               $80                         3rd Place               $65
4th Place               $55                         5th Place               $45                         6th Place               $35

All ties for Wins vs. Loss’s will be broken by the total number of points accumulated throughout the season.  This will make it very important for teams to find substitutes and or makeup matches.

Thanks for playing this season and Good Luck!

Jason
